The programme will be delivered using nurture principles within small groups of up to 10 pupils. There will be a range of learning styles including team work, individual work, practical activities and research. Skills pupils could gain from partaking in the programme include confidence, ability to cope with different situations and working with others.
The three units of the course are: Understanding Mental Health Issues, Influences on Mental Health and Wellbeing and Coping Strategies and Building Resilience. All three units are internally assessed.
On successful completion of the programme pupils will achieve the SQA Mental Health and Wellbeing Award at either L4 or L5.
On successful completion of the programme the aim would be that pupils felt better equipped to deal with different situations and have a better understanding of mental health and wellbeing.
