Our new programme on offer for senior pupils is provided by Street League staff and facilitated by IWS. Street League aim to decrease unemployment within young people aged 16-30 and do this through employability workshops alongside physical activity.
Not only is there an improvement in the young people's physical fitness and employability, there is also an improvement in their wellbeing. A healthy mind allows for a healthier lifestyle.
Several drop in sessions are on each week and are free to attend. These are:
- Tuesday and Friday - 1.30pm at Blackburn Juniors Pitch
- Wednesday - 1.30pm at Xercise4less Livingston
IWS staff will be supporting young people to attend the Tuesday drop in session, however they are welcome to join other sessions with their schools support and approval.
Young people can progress onto one of the Street League programmes once they have left school and have not been accepted in to college or employment, information on these is below:
Street League have numerous academies throughout the year in which they can recruit unemployed individuals and take them on at a stage 2 or stage 3 course depending on the contract. If the academies are not of interest or suitable they also have an NTSF programme in which the young people come along to the drop in sessions and we take them through soft skills and physical fitness assessments and reassessments to monitor their progress.
Street League also provide support with creating a CV through workshops and group work exercises. Each milestone leads to progressing the young person from their NTSF stage 1/2 to a positive destination.
If you require further information please contact with Street League or IWS Skills Centre.
