Street league

Our new programme on offer for senior pupils will be delivered in partnership between Street league and IWS. Street League aim to promote positive school leaver destinations and decrease unemployment within young people aged 16-30. This programme will focus on developing employability skills and improving  physical and mental wellbeing through the context of fitness

This programme will run on Monday and Wednesday afternoons and will be based at the Exercise4Less gym in Livingston. It is important to note that, while young people will be encouraged to participate in fitness activity, the programme will be suitable for learners with all levels of fitness and previous experience. Unlike some other recent Street League opportunities, there will be a focus on fitness and wellbeing in a broad sense rather than specifically in relation to football.  The programme will also include visits to West Lothian College and other local facilities.

The programme will support young people to achieve an Employability Award at SCQF Level 3 or 4. A key focus of the work will be to support young people towards a positive destination and it would be especially suitable for potential school leavers. It is anticipated that the programme will run in both blocks during session 2019-20 and schools may want to consider Winter and Summer leavers when making referrals.
